Raw Data is a first person shooter set in a futuristic world. Play as one of four different classes and embark on a story of discovery and sinister corporations.
While Raw Data's story (a dystopian world where a band of rogue hackers battle an evil corporation) is no great innovation, the title does manage to achieve one great novelty: a VR game which actually feels like a full release. In a sea of tech demos and shooting galleries, Raw Data is a traditional shooter with RPG elements which just so happens to also be a VR game. Shooting is tight and responsive with a satisfying difficulty curve, levels are varied enough to be enjoyable, and the classes offer different play styles. Some use bows and melee weapons while others prefer large guns. A death match style multiplayer and co-op mode are also available, resulting in a game with both depth and polish. Raw Data is perhaps the best game available across all VR systems at present.
Things to come
Raw Data is an example of the high quality VR games can achieve when designed with the medium in mind. While the simplistic plot and over used enemy waves are slightly irritating, the overall package is generally fantastic.
